McGill University is found in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is a public university of research, and has over 33,000 students. The university schools include computer science, architecture, dietetics, information studies, nursing, occupational & physical therapy, urban planning and social work.
McGill was founded in 1821, and received its charter on March 31 of that year. The oldest building on campus was constructed in 1843 – it’s the Arts Building. The first academic-based unit of the school was the Montreal Medical Institution, founded later, in 1823. This became the first medical school in Canada.
