The University of British Columbia is also called UBC and is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is home to more than 48,000 students who earn degrees or titles in fields that include Arts, Business, Science, Architecture and Economics.
UBC was established in 1908, although the university was proposed in 1877. Its original location was not yet specified. The school was affiliated successfully with Victoria and Vancouver high schools, along with McGill University. The original site was in Point Gray, but building plans were postponed due to economic difficulties. The college absorbed McGill University in 1915.
